If you have a current CPCS Blue Card that is due to expire you will need to complete a computer based theory test specific to the categories of plant you hold in order to renew your Blue Plant Operator card.
The CPCS renewal test is split into test modules. Each module has 15 randomly selected multiple choice questions, which need to be answered within 15 minutes.
Each module is CPCS plant specific and the questions are based on a range of topics and key knowledge expected of experienced plant operators and have been devised through consultation with plant-based employers and health and safety related data.
Cardholders will need to pass each module in order to retain each category when renewing their Competent Operator (Blue) Card. There are cases where concessions apply to test bookings, in that a number of similar categories are held on a card, but only one module may need to be taken and passed as the renewal tests are created to cover groupings of plant categories. You may have 15 different items of plant on your card but you may only need to site 3 renewal theory tests.
We have brought together the CPCS Renewal Test factsheets that will help you to prepare for the renewal tests. Below you will find the CPCS Renewal Tests that you need to sit in order to renew your plant categories, if you hold 2 items of plant that come under the 1 Renewal test then you only need to sit that one test to cover both items of plant.
