Changes have been made to the way you renew your Blue CPCS operator card. A new computer based renewal test has been introduced for the categories of plant that you have on the back of your blue CPCS card in addition to producing a valid log book showing 300 hours per category and having a valid Health Safety and Environment test (passed within 2 years of the renewal date).

Q. What is the Renewal Test?

A. The renewal test checks key safety knowledge relating to the categories of plant.  A set of 15 randomly selected multiple-choice questions, known as a module, will be available for each category of plant, or for a group of similar categories.  Cardholders will need to pass each module in order to retain each category when renewing their Competent Operator (Blue) card.

Q. Who needs to take the Renewal Test?

A. All CPCS cardholders whose Blue Card expires from the 1st October 2013 need to take the renewal test. Cardholders whose cards expire before the 1st October 2013 do not need to sit the computer based renewal test to renew their Blue CPCS Card. However if cardholders whose card expires before the 1st Octboer 2013 let their cards lapse past the 1st Octboer 2013 they will then have to site the computer based renewals test in order to renew their card.

Q. Where can I take the Renewal Test?

A. The CPCS Blue card renewal test can be taken at our test centre at 98F Carryduff Road, Temple, Lisburn, Northern Ireland, BT27 6YL. We are also approved to provide the Health, Safety and Environment test for operatives and supervisors as well as the CPCS Renewal tests.

Q. When do I need to take the Renewal Test?

A. The module for each category held, needs to be passed before the category can be added to a renewed Compent Operator card

Q. How many Renewal Tests do I need to book?

A. One renewal test booking includes up to 5 modules. If the cardholder has, or is renewing five or less categories, they only need to book one test. If the cardholder is renewing more than five categories they need to book an additional test

Q. How do I book the Renewal Test?

A. To book a test call one of our centre administrators on 02892639459 or email us at info@bsdtraining.com We will be able to book the test for a time that suits you and advise on which modules you need to complete in order to renew the various plant categories that are on your CPCS card.

Q. How can I revise for the Renewal Test?

A. There are a number of factsheets available on the cskills website to help you prepare for the renewal tests. Unlike the operatives health, safety and environment test there is no revision book available with the questions and answers in it.

Q. What happens if I do not pass the Renewal Test?

A. If modules are not passed within a renewal test, the test must be re-booked at a later date.

Q. What if I don’t wish to renew all my categories?

A. Providing at least one category has been renewed, categories not renewed will be banked (within the life of the new card) and may be added at a later date
