Tractor Mounted Hedge Cutter

Tractor Mounted Hedge-Cutters/Flail mowers are commonly used in agriculture and horticulture applications to cut banks, verges and overgrown hedges.

The tractor mounted Hedge-cutter course will include the following topics;

Topics covered during the Tractor Mounted Hedge-cutter course;

  • Understand statutory requirements – H&S at Work Order (NI) 1978 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (NI) PUWER 1999.
  • Fit the bush cutter attachment.
  • Understand stability of the attachment.
  • Recognise hazards and understand safe working procedures.
  • Carry out pre-use checks.
  • Understand maintenance issues including greasing, oiling and fitting flail heads.
  • Carry out safe operation of the bush cutter including start up procedure, correct cutting procedure, clearing blockages, correct transportation procedures on the road/low loader, correct use of PPE and cutting steep banks.
  • Carry out various cutting options including upward, downward and reverse cutting.
  • Carry out all post operation checks.

The above topics will be completed for the tractor mounted Hedge-cutter course whether practically or theoretically where applicable. A practical and theoretical assessment will be completed by each delegate to confirm their knowledge and ability to work safely.
