Over the past few years we have invested heavily in changing and updating our entire plant training fleet. The first machine we updated was the mini digger with a Hitachi ZX26U-5A taking over the below 10 ton excavator training and assessment duties.
Since then we have updated our Scissors Lift, Mobile Boom Lift, Static Boom Lift, 180 Excavator, 360 Excavator above 10 ton, Skid steer, Counterbalance Forklifts, Tandem Roller and most recently our Telescopic Handler.
That left only 1 machine in the fleet that was on our radar for an update..... The Forward Tipping Dumper. The Thwaites has served us well for the past 15 years but this time we decided to go with the JCB 6 ton swivel skip option.
The more traditional/common open air seated site dumpers are beginning to move out of favour on UK construction sites with operator safety and comfort now coming to the forefront to help reduce the risk of fatality in the event of a roll over. The other added advantage of some cabbed site dumpers is the ability for the operator to remain in the cab whilst loading is taking place which then removes the risk of the operator becoming a pedestrian when they have to dismount the machine whilst loading is taking place.
Our new machine has been up spec'd slightly from the standard Forward Tipping Dumpers.
Not only have we decided on the upgraded JCB SiTESAFE Cab version with the Front Screen Guard and a swivel skip, it has a few optional extras fitted to increase operator comfort and safety. We added a Full LED Work Light Kit, 360 Vision Camera Kit, DAB Radio with Bluetooth, Tow Hitch and Air Conditioning to give delegates a comfortable place to operate in while doing their training and assessments.
The 360 Vision camera Kit allows the operator to have full visibility of both the area in front of the skip when travelling forward which is usually a blind spot as well as the area behind the dumper when travelling in reverse. Further to the front and rear cameras there are 2 side cameras which allow the operator a view of the area beside the wheels to ensure there are no longer any blind spots in the vicinity of the dumper where pedestrians would be at risk should they encroach on that area.
Further to the operator comfort and safety additions; an Autolube system has also been added to the 6T-2 which will greatly reduce the time taken to carry out the weekly greasing on the machine and leaves only the drive shaft u joints which will need to be manually greased.
We can deliver Forward Tipping Dumper training and testing for a number of card schemes including CPCS, CSR, ITSSAR and NPORS. Have a look at our courses section for more information on the different card schemes or give us a call on 02892639459 if you have any queries about the different options available.
